Melt My Heart
Today (Monday) is normally my day off but I went in to host about 20 young Japanese college student volunteers of Caring for the Future Foundation. I just invited them to pitch in and play with the kids like I’ve been doing for a couple of months. Of course after 5 minutes, you could not tell who was the volunteer and who was the client. They all just played together and had a wonderful time.
I’ve created pictures to the words for “My Favorite Things” for the kids will color, cut out and paste on a board. Then I’ll usethe board to cue them the words as they learn the song. They respond well to that and it passes as an English class.
It’s hard to believe their favorite part of their time with me is to hear the storybooks. I have a lot of fun reading to them. They are so sweet, loving and appreciative. I hope the future holds wonderful things for all of them, they deserve it.
